Saturday Fatal Accident on 60 Freeway Today In California

According to traffic logs released by the California Highway Patrol, a series of crashes and roadway hazards caused widespread disruptions Friday along both directions of State Route 60 across Southern California.

Authorities reported collisions and traffic incidents in several cities, including Riverside, Baldwin Park, Diamond Bar, Rancho Cucamonga, East Los Angeles, and Jurupa Valley, contributing to heavy congestion throughout the day.

One of the most serious incidents occurred on the westbound 60 Freeway near Valley Way in Jurupa Valley, where officials said a tractor-trailer crashed into multiple vehicles, forcing authorities to temporarily shut down all westbound lanes. The closure triggered miles-long traffic backups as emergency responders worked to assist victims and clear the wreckage from the freeway.

Authorities confirmed that at least three people were injured in the multi-vehicle collision. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.

Additional crashes were reported across the SR-60 corridor involving pickup trucks, semi-trucks, passenger sedans, and roadway debris that blocked travel lanes and created hazardous driving conditions for motorists. Emergency crews responded to numerous scenes throughout the day to remove damaged vehicles, manage traffic, and reopen affected lanes.

In Riverside County, investigators also examined separate multi-vehicle crashes and roadway hazards near Rubidoux Boulevard, Day Street, and connecting routes to State Route 91. Traffic delays extended across several freeway interchanges as cleanup operations continued into the evening hours.

Transportation officials urged drivers to use caution while traveling through impacted areas, warning motorists about stop-and-go traffic, sudden lane closures, and debris hazards along the freeway. Drivers were also encouraged to monitor live traffic updates and seek alternate routes when possible.

Investigations into the various crashes remain ongoing, and authorities have not yet released full details regarding the causes of the collisions or the total number of injuries reported along SR-60 Friday.
